Default Removing parafine from female part-bamboo

Would anyone know a good way of removing parafine layer (parafine used to lubricate joint) from an inside of female part of all bamboo joint. Some solvent like acethone? Although it might damage the glue itself....

I think Tim Harris would know, and I'm sure he has first hand experience with these sorts of rods.

Did you mean "paraffin" - in the USA this is a waxy stuff which could be used as a lubricant - in Britain it is Kerosene and used in oil lamps and primus stoves.

The waxy stuff dissolves easily in most organic solvents - petrol/gasoline is pretty good - toluene/xylene equally effective. The risk with a porous thing like a cane rod is that the volatile solvent will act like the running solvent in a chromatograph - carrying the wax into the grain of the rod.....

What is the real problem?

Repair of varnish, possible modification of joint, to prevent another damage to varnish. Yes, i ment paraffine, like in candles i appologize for confusion.
