Default A Slight folly

Some may recall that after my Grandson was born, I was on the scrounge for some bits and pieces to make a special commission. I had a great response, particularly from Flytier07 (Byron - rod tip), ACW (Andy - reel) and Little Al (Alan - wood chisels). I struggled with the inscription because of the narrowness of the rod and various alternative solutions lead me back to a respray. However, here it is, the 1/3rd scale fly rod:

The colour is Halfords Ford metallic blue. The grip and reel seat insert were spun from a single grip cut in two and the butt was a leftover from my previous rod (Thanks Mark). The wraps are cobalt blue with spar varnish

I retained the hayfork tip from the original rod and think that it looks good, I might consider doing that again.

The final customer was delighted to hear that the rod was ready:

Hopefully Byron, Andy and Al have all received my e-mails. If not my thanks again to you all for your generosity

Hey vince,

Nice little rod; and by the look on your Gradsons face, He's also very pleased with his first fly rod!

Happy Days

Thanks Mostyn.

Its more of a toy but I am confident I can make him a childs version when he is big enough. Just capturing his interest before the golfers on the dark side of the family can get to him

regards

Vince
