Default Epoxy?

Hi All, I have been building my first rod for the streams, its a 6ft 6" 2wt 4piece. I have come to the stage of guide wrapping and have been practicing on an old 13ft Float rod I had in the loft. What my question is, as the title suggests is the finishing coat. What is the recommendations of the forum and why. I have read one of the builds on here and a suggestion by David Norwich to use a two pack polymer. What is the difference between Polymer and Epoxy or am I stupid and they are the same under a different name lol..
Thanks
Ian

Default Re: Epoxy?

Epoxies have two parts, a resin and a hardener hence the "two pack". For rod building they can be adhesives or a coating for whippings but these are different products.

see: Epoxy coatings for Rod Whippings - Rod Varnish, Epoxy & Glues

these are all intended for guide wraps.
