Default spine of a rod

well lads looking a bit of advise, im in the process of building a new switch rod, now im just after finishing wrapping all the guides, from what ive read and seen the guides should be placed 180 degrees from the spine. now when inspecting the guides and making sure they were all in line i checked the spine and found that i somehow wrapped the guides more like 90 degrees from the spine on the tip piece... now will this affect the action of the rod or should i cut the guides of and rewrap them again?
cheers

If you are off centre from the spine not only can it affect the action it can create a weakness in it as it will cause the blank to twist and unwrap (it doesn't actually unwrap but it will fracture).

All Free Spirit carp rods are built along the spine and it's worth looking on ther website as it provides information about this subject.

So I would rebuild again if I was you.

If you haven't epoxied the wraps, I'd re-wrap. You may also be able to wiggle the guides into spine alignment (if your wraps are too tight for wiggling, they are over tensioned and need re-doing to avoid the feet ends damaging the blank)

If a re-wrap means cutting off epoxy, I'd fish it a couple of times first, decide whether its worth the bother. It won't break because its off spine, but might track slightly out of true if the spine is pronounced (many are not).

cheers for the replies lads, i sort of knew it would need rewrapping so i did it earlier. it was worth doing for the sake of a couple of hours since ill be using the rod for many years to come.
