Default Gudebrod 340A alternative?

Hi

I need to replace a few rings on a Sage XP.

I believe the thread that was used on the rod is Gudebrod 340A, gold, non CP.

I understand that this is no longer made??

Can anyone either point me in the direction of a supplier who still has some or identify any alternative thread that will give a good match.

Thanks in (hopeful) anticipation.

That's odd, the 340A is also used on the Z-axis.

I will have a look in my box.

To my knowledge Sage used golden rod gudebrod 251 (i'm on my mobile so i'm doing this from the top of my head but i think goldenrod is 251) on the XP's..

The spools of goldenrod I have are marked 209 Jerry, but a quick google of Gudebrod 251 throws up references to goldenrod so I'm not sure what's happening with these codes.

Anyway Waltyluft if it is goldenrod you need and you get stuck for a source let me know as I have a few reels.

As an aside, I saw somewhere that Gudebrod nylon is being made again. Anyone know if this is true?

Pete

I'm confused on 2 counts now....

1. I thought Gudebrod had ceased trading all together.
2. All the "googling" I've done refers to 340A for the sage XP,

quote from rodbuilding.org:

Phoned Sage and they confirmed they used 340A to wrap their XP's

same here i looked in my cabinet but all the stickers are off the spools i thought are goldenrod, gold is 251 of that i'm sure. I went to the shofttackle website and they have a colour chart there saying goldenrod is 340. Best to be safe and send a email to sage about the colour..
Gudebrod went out of business but started back up again i don't know all the details all i know i can order thread again..

not sure what chart you're looking at Jerry but the one on Shoft tackle site shows golden rod as 209 and gold as 340

I think i get it now look here's a pic from a spool of.....well you get the picture

Click the image to open in full size.

Two numbers.. The 521 goes for all the nylon threads i never ever in the twelfe years i wrap rods looked at this i always buy by name, Garnet Candy Apple Goldenrod, chestnutt brown etc etc.. Must be a dutch thing i mean we are quite thick over here.. I was right though all colours are #521..

Still no clue whatsoever what # the bl00dy goldenrod has
