Hi Guys,
I'm new on here and looking for a little advice.
I built a Sage TCR 12' 9" 4 pce rod several years ago and have never been all that happy with the rod handle that I shaped myself. I'm fancying putting on a Batson type switch handle in place. What I want to know is how easy(if at all) will it be to remove the old handles, reel seat, winding check and resin? To secure the cork handles and seat I've used Gorilla glue so not sure how easy this stuff is to remove. I've removed plenty of old rod guide whippings before so the big stripping guide should not be an issue. What I do worry about is the thin layer of resin in front of the winding check to cover the printed rod details on the blank. I'm assuming that I'll need to remove the reel seat in order to get a snugg fit for the new fore grip and butt handle or could it slid on from the butt of the rod, saving me having to remove resin and stripping guide?
I suspect that this may well be a mission impossible and buying a new blank butt section may well be a cheaper alternative.
Your thoughts and suggestions would be most welcome
Regards
Saul
