Well i finished this rod up a couple of weeks ago so it has been fished with for a couple of times..
First of all the seat, i used my last Shamburg covered thread titanium reelseat, i thought this blank deserved it. The guides are (stripper) Fuji CLSG and the running guides and tip top are REC single footed recoils.. The windingcheck is a REC with diamond knurl on it, it was actually going to be used in combination with a matching NSGX REC seat, which i thought looked to bulky on this rod..
I wasn't really sure which spacer to use on the Shamburg (right) seat, but in the end i went with the dark amboyna..
Ever since i casted this rod as the factory build back in the shop i was thinking about building it.. The strange thing about this Winston is that it doesn't really feel like one

, i mean, it does, but i can see people that didn't like the (old) other winstons, love this one..
It casts like a fast rod but fishes like a soft one, it is just so easy to load up close but when you want distance the rod just changes into something else. The way this rod reaches down to the more powerfull lower sections is just so smooth there is absolutley no dead spot until you run out of rod.. This maybe one of my better switch casting rods i have tried, another novelty is that this Winston is a bit line picky, i tried a couple but found it best matched with a old Sage performance taper.. Which on its own is pretty strange because i didn't like that line on any other rod

..
Well i won't bore you guys with further praise for this rod, just go out and try one when you have the chance..
thanks for looking,
Jerry
