Default Blank advice

Looking for a project for my spare time if she who is to be obeyed allows some that is!

Two options either to be 7ft 6inches 4#

Carbon fibre blank mid to tip action would be good in at least three piece but not too fussed or

Old cane rod that needs complete restoration same length and weight as specified but something not too floppy! Been fishing round eBay but not sure what would be suitable!

Budget around thirty to forty pounds for the blank as this will be only my second build and would like to bring something back to life if possible?
If I can find a longer rod say a ten footer three piece would it be worth only using the top two sections only or would this alter the line rating too much?

Thanks
Mark

Have a look for a Milwards Flycraft for a cane project. They were designed originally for the American market and had a tippier action than a lot of rods in their day - much more in tune with modern tatses I think. They come in 2 or 3 piece versions and lengths from 8ft to 9ft. An 8ft or an 8ft 6in should do you nicely.
