I want to build a rod with a total length of 8 foot. So should I order an 8 foot blank or a 7'-6" blank. I am thinking a 7'-6" blank with a handle will give me an 8 foot rod or am I off my rod here?

I would also like suggestions for a source of inexpensive but good quality down-locking reel seat with rosewood.

The blank should be the full length of the handle.IE:-8'

Jim's right of course. I think what is confusing you is that the blank runs up inside the handle and the reel seat.
