Me I was trained by elderly ladies at Shakespeare's in Redditch a very long time ago !

Use your hands and a bit of practise - wrapping machines are for genuinely gullible amateurs !

Best wishes

I built my own but if you are only building one rod then Steve’s hit the nail on the head.
I believe a cardboard box and a heavy book will do the trick but for a few more tips read my z-axis build thread....
It comes in handy for drying the epoxy after...

Z Axis Project......... Rod build 2007 in Rod Building Forum
ps just started another build this week on a 6 foot 6".. 2wt four section that will fit in to a back pack..
To be honest I have more rods than I have time to use them.....but my young gun Cameron is now Eight and will soon be introduced to the art of casting the fly..
Already got him hooked on fishing the whip...

I am with Steve here.

You dont need one its a simple task why complicate things really
15 minutes of practice and you will have it down pat.

Just to put my tuppence worth in.
The guys here are right, you dont need a power wrapper or indeed any commercially availble wrapper, but hey ho, if someone wants one, can maybe can afford it then why not. I use mine not only to power wrap, I can use it as a hand wrapper by simply taking off the power belt and of course use it to apply the epoxy and dry it all on the same machine.

If this makes me a genuine gullible amateur then so be it, I enjoy using and even building these tools. I'm still looking forward to visiting Steves place to learn how to start a wrap with the "Hardy knot" he once told me about so I like to think I'm open to all sides of this hobby I enjoy.

I suppose it's similar to all facets of this sport, you start off with a £75 rod and reel kit and before you know it you've gone out and bought something more expensive, how many times do we read here about "tackle tarts" spending serious money on rods and reels? Good luck to them all, it's a personal choice, and thank goodness for that.

As I said, just my thoughts,
TC

Best wishes
