Default First Build 9' 5wt GATTI

My first attempt at building a rod.

The Blank is a GATTI G4 9' 5wt

The reel seat and single foot guides are by American Tackle

Wrapped with Gluebrod scarlet thread with no colour preserver[img][/img]

I really enjoyed building this rod and am well chuffed with the finished result.

Roll on March the 15th!!

Excellent job WF, well done.
Bet you can't wait to catch a fish on it.

good job wildfisher, i have build my share of the G4's they cast amazing.. But where did you get the blue blank, did you purchase it from Brian Ahern in the States that blank only comes in matte black now in Italy..

The G5's are also really nice fast rods...

Very nicelyt done for your first man.. Any plans for your second??

Jerry

That WF you can take as a great compliment, Jerry is one of Hollands finest rod builders, IMO.

Must just be the photo Jerry- it is indeed black.

I bought all the components from Eddy at FishBone in Belgium whom I would most definately use again- first class service. I had hoped to find a retailer closer to home however, the uk market seems more geared towards the stillwater stocky angler and the 7/8wt rods they use.
I then toyed with ordering from the states but I was worried I might get pumped by customs when the stuff arrived (not a problem when buying from the EU).

I do have some plans to build again however, I want to restore a couple of old rods first which was partially me reason for building a rod in the first place (I thought that a little knowledge of how they all come together might be useful before pulling some other rods apart!)
