Default Just finished new bamboo rod

Hi all,

I discovered this forum recently and I am glad that I find the people who share my passion.
Inspired by timmy and bbamboo, I want to show you my rod I made myself:

It is based on Cattanach 7ft 2pcs 4wt with bamboo ferrule. It is finished with Polyurethane varnish, very light wire snakes guides, high quality cork and reel seat made of palisander wood.I also made the palnning form myself:

Let my share with you my joy:

you have my sheer admiration adam to make such a nice looking rod from scratch takes patience and craftmanship, i only dabbled with fibreglass many years ago. how does the bamboo ferrule compare with metal ones also would look nice with a small rubber handle button like the old makes had. only my opinion though. well done

That Cane Rod is absolutely Gorgeous Adam,

You must be so pleased with your creation; I know I'd be so proud if I could only create a work of art like you've done!

I envy your skill.

You have my admiration also. Making one is well beyond my capabilities. Here's to hoping you christen it very shortly.

Words fail me Adam, if that is a first build, it's a stunner.
Very clever indeed.
Steven.

Aye, Steven, I can only agree as my first one is used in the garden to grow beans on...

Welcome Adam,

this is breathtaking work and to make a first with a bamboo ferrule you have to be quite self-assured! I remember planing 11(!!) sections to achieve my first tip. I'm sure you'll make some real jewels in the future!

Best regards,
Johan

Hi Adam

If that's your first build you should be very proud.

I would use my first blank in the garden but I'm not sure it would support anything

I'm not so optimistic, soon my first son will be born I will be very busy i'm afraid.

About the bamboo ferrule - I like it for a few reasons. it is lovely looking, more lightweight, does not require removing any material (weakness point), does not cost us at all etc. It is not so difficult to make either, maybe a bit tricky but not difficult.
