Default R Walker 'Rod Building'

A few years ago several people expressed interest in my old copy of Richard Walker's book 'Rod Building for Beginners'.
I started trying to make a good copy by using an OCR but it was hard work. Then my computer crashed and I lost half of it, so it was abandoned. I have now scanned the book and loaded into Google documents as a PDF.

This refers to cane rods, of course.
If anyone is still interested, there is a link on this page of my Google web site:

Much of it is not now relevant but the detail about the mathematics of built cane design is very useful if you have a practical interest.

I agree its a great book from this side of the pond. The section on rod design is sound.
Good lad for posting.

Top marks! That little book was a mine of information for me when I first started making rods. I still have an original well thumbed copy. I can recommend that book to anybody thinking of getting into cane rod making. In fact I would go so far as to say every rod maker should read Richard Walkers book. There is a lot in there about the dynamics of rod design that though old, can still be useful. It's worth reading alone by anybody who wants to find out how rod test curve ratings where originally conceived.

Good stuff!

David.
