Default Rod eyes

Im changing the eyes on some of my rods that have american style eyes. I have heard that english style eyes last longer, should i change. the american eyes groove easily at the top of the leg.Where should i get eyes, which type and which manufacturer. The rods are carbon fibre.

Thanks Jemo

never realy noticed that the English style last longer. But if you do want to go that route, you can't beat snake brand universal snake guides, i don't use there tiptops, they are pretty heavy, i take a H&H round tip for that..

I'm on my blackberry (just couldn't resist checking up on you guys) so i can't go in to much detail...

Happy new year all..

Jerry

I've just finished building my first fly rod. All the bits and pieces came from David Norwich, just google. A sound bloke, easy to talk to and an expert. I'd have a chat with him if I were you .

Chris.

H&H claim that their tests with softer action rods show english pattern snakes (sit lower, round profile) perform better than american pattern snakes (teardrop profile, sit higher off the blank); the latter performing better wear-wise on faster action rods. Never heard anyone else provide any other evidence either way. But logic suggests a deeper flex will see more wear on that part of the guide closest to the blank relative to a shallower flex
