Default Can some one give me an idea of the sizings for this rod?

Hi I've got my blank ordered, a St Croix Sciv 10 ' #6 but have been working out the guide sizing using a formula I was given but it doesn't seem to give me the right answers, it says I need a sz 20 stripper guide.

I know the mudhole web site has got all sorts of charts for eye spacing of various rods. I am pretty sure they sell St. croix too. ( sorry you will just have to Google Mudhole).

Sorry wrong answer I thought you wanted spacing. Back to the drawing board eh.

Guidecalc suggests #12 - but I thought St C offer guide spacing info.

They suggest a 3mm ring for the tip?

I built one of these blanks recently and used Alconite single leg rings. The internal diameter of the tip ring I used was 4mm. I can check the other sizes I used if you're interested.

Pete, what tube size did you use on the tip.

Also did you taper the sizes of the ring or just taper the first couple and then same size to the tip?

Thanks
AL

The ID of the tip top tube was 1.8mm.

I then used size 6 BLAG rings on the top section, then tapering up size, 7,8,10 and 12 but ring. These are ring sizes rather than inside diameters. My choice of rings is probably on the small size but I wanted to keep the weight down as much as possible.

If you look on this page you'll see how H&H / Fuji size their rings:
Fishing Frequently Asked Questions

I would think the sizes on the St Croix website probably equate to the snake ring sizes on this page.
