Default Advice needed

On a blank I have just acquired, the male ends aren't "plugged" as they are most rods.

Is it a good idea to do this for reinforcement purposes? If so can anyone advise me on what to use.

Thanks

Many rods come with the male ferrules unplugged. It is probably cosmetic in many others, but I am prepared to be corrected on this I would never dream of putting a male or female ferrule on the ground.

Hi Mate.
First I am not an expert on Carbon.
But if I was you I would plug the ends with a short section of something like
balsa doweling, If you dont like the light colour some black ink dye would colour the ends.

Hope that helps

PS Please show some picture when you get it made up.

Hi

I've always avoided using wood in the male ends due to the possibility of it swelling when wet.....they used to break rocks open that way I think!!

Three methods I've used are black silicon sealant or a slightly oversize piece of cork pushed in a coloured with a marker or lastly a piece of black EVA foam.

It doesn't serve any structural function, just keeps the dirt out.

Hope that helps.

I wouldn't spend too much money on them. The fit isn't really that important. Just whittle a slightly oversized peg from something and push it in....maybe with a little bit of glue on it. Then just slice it flush. Job done.
