Default Millbuies Trout fishery (Boat Only)

We are pleased to announce that we have now (at last) taken on Millbuies trout fishery near Elgin.

The fishery is all boat and is over 13 acres in size with depths to 17 ft in some places. It has been run by the council for over 30 plus years and is set in peacefull secluded woodland and is very sheltered.

There is 4 boats at present with another 2 boats to go in and float tubes will be allowed in the top loch only(max 2 at a time)

Anyone who has fished it in the past will know that this water is a jewel and a pleasure to fish and we intend to see it realise its full potential and offer all anglers a memorable days fishing and enjoyment. As with the Glen of rothes trout fishery the fish will be top quality.

All bookings will be made through the Glen tel number which is manned 7 days a week and only a mile and half from Millbuies.

It will be a Troutmaster water but the fish size will range from 1lb 8ozs to 5lbs being the main stock with a trickle of fish from 5 lbs to double figures. The emphasis is on value for money, hard fighting fish, top quality sport and not size of fish.

We will be open for bookings for clubs etc on first come first served basis.

Opening day will be 23rd March 2012.

Prices for a session will be around £18 with £4 for boat which makes it if 2 anglers in a boat £20.

More details will be placed as soon as we get it all sorted out and I hope that if your in the area you will give it a try.

Good luck, but a point to note... why charge extra for a boat?? if it is boat only....??

will it be £40/ boat even if only 1 man? or £22 (18 plus 4)?

If there is only one man in the boat and charge £40 Id have to wear a mask

No one man in a boat is £22.

The reason for the charge for the boat is like most other things if you hire something then you pay for that hire.It helps to pay for any repairs or damage. We will supply nets also at no cost for each boat aswell.

Fair points though and as its a different venue and new venture we want to get it right and we take on board all suggestions.

We have looked at things and decided that if anyone wants ot use an electric motor, they can.
As the lochs are 13 acres it will certainly help and anglers will be able to cover the lochs better than just rowing.

Fish will be in well before opening day to let them spread out and bookings are filling in for the opening few days.

As Millbuies is now part of the Glen of Rothes trout fishery, this year we can offer camping at the Glen and that means you can fish one fishery one day and the other another day.Toilets are available and evening meals and breakfasts can be arranged on bookings aswell.Tents £6 per night.not per person.

Coarse fishing is also available for those who dont fly fish.

Thought I would take a look around and check some keys at the fishery, make sure the boats were sealing well and enjoy some of the peace of the fishery.

Took some pictures and considering there was a fair westerly blowing the pictures will show just how sheltered this fishery is at times.

Good news is that the 2 wooden boats should be available for after opening day and all we need is the fish to be on top taking mood. One things for sure this fishery has been hidden very well and those who have enjoyed it in the past will be able to resume their passion with it very soon.

Enjoy opening day not far away now.

More work done at the fishery.
CCTV up and banks cleared, fallen trees moved out of the water and tidied up.All the boats numbered and ready to go.These boats are the same as those on Mentieth apart from the 2 wooden ones which are solid 15 ft,rs.

The wildlife is abundant and so much to see.Took some pictures of the top loch which is alot bigger than the first bottom loch.Hope they show just how big this place is and let you imagine sitting in a boat on a nice evening fishing here.Hope you enjoy the pictures.

There will be over a ton of fish going in shortly so as they are well spread out before opening.Main stock size will be 1lb 8ozs to 5lbs with a couple of bigger fish, but the emphasis is not on how big,but good quality full finned and hard fighting fish and pleasure in an idylic fishery.Rainbows and Blues will be stocked and there is a well established head of Wild Browns and as the fishery is well over 30 years old some wily ones are sure to be there somewhere.
All details can be found on the Scotland Fishing - MorayFlyFishing.co.uk and click the link to millbuies on the left hand side for all details of the fishery.
