Glen weekly report to 5th Sept 11
The best fish of the week this week was a big surprise for angler Alan Cobham and was a conservative 10lbs Brown in weight. No picture was taken as the fish was happily returned to fight another day.Bob Mann caught a nice Tiger trout and Scott Burness also encountered a good Brownie of 4 and 1/2lbs all fish were returned. This set what was a good week of fishing on the surface with Gordon Grant rising 36 fish,Ian Morrison 24,Mike Matthews 17,Richard Burnel had a fish of 5lb 11oz,R Crombie had a Blue Rainbow of 8lbs,Tam Gray a 4lb 10oz fish and Ian Kerr had 13 fish.As Low pressure drew in towards the weekend,it did slow things down a little and wasnt as easy as it had been during the week, yet still plenty of fish were rising and feeding, but the hard part was tempting them to a particular pattern.best flies have been daddies, hoppers, gnats, damsels and blobs with ace of spades an old known fly all worked best.Floating and intermediete lines had to be used throughout as fish came up and down with conditions. The coarse loch fished well also with conditions suiting,Carp, bream, ide and hybrids came well to maggot and sweetcorn being the best baits to use.Matthew West had a mirror carp which was a picture of health and condition, on the pole.Fish are turning their attentions to fry now and can be seen shoaling and bubbling on the surface as rainbows round them up ready for the kill as they bang on the weight for the winter months,so some good sport could be had with fry patterns and could lead to some of the big doubles being taken which have been put in over the last couple of months and see our record broken.
