Default Hello from Oxford

Hi ,
I grew up in South Africa , where i learnt the art of fly fishing and tying. I grew up in the South of Johannesburg fishing the streams and dams around. I never fished for trout untill 2 years into fishing the fly. I have been in the UK for 7 years now but due to work cometments never had the time to get out on the rivers but now i have moved to the Oxford region and found this board via a search engine.
So hello to all ..

I do have a few queastions, One regarding the fishing of urban streams and the second about the licences etc around fishing these waters.

Thanks,
James

Jim .
welcome to the board.
To fish you will need an EA fishing licence, for trout and all other no migratory fish its around 30 per anum.
Sorry I am ignorant of Oxford area urban streams ,however later in the season my grayling days on the Kennet would help you get into the UK fly fishing scene with usually 8-9 anglers about for the day and a gossippy lunch ,great way of meeting some of the board in the flesh!

Welcome to Oxfordshire James, what sort of fish are you after. You just need a rod licence, post office or online.Trout wise there's farmoor also has a S African shop near by sells all sorts of funny foods if you get home sick.Blenheim, lechlade, busheyleaze, barns lake.

River wise there's the Thames,Kennet,Thame,Windrush,Evenlode,Lambourn,Coln,Cole,Ock,Isle of Wight brook,Letcombe brook,Ginge brook. All have trout and coarse fish in them some free stretches others day or season tickets. Then there's the lakes for carp etc, shed loads of places to fish in and around Oxfordshire.

Spoilt for choice really,if you fancy a reccy on some of these places drop me a pm.

Sean
