Default Hello from a novice

Hi, I have just picked up my first fly rod at the tender age of 48. I have been into most field sports for a number of years, but I have always looked on in envy at decent fly fishers.

I know I'm on a long learning curve to achieve anywhere near proficiency, however, isn't that the same for most things?

Anyway, here I am to ask stupid questions and make you all cringe with my ignorance.
