Hi Brownie,

Welcome to the forum,

When the fish are rising try the dry fly, Grayling like a black shuttlecock buzzer!

Upstream Nymph, Hare's Ear, PT, or anything with a bit of pink in it.

Klink and dink!! Czech Nymph (not for me) French style : long leader with one or two droppers (also not for me) Hey, in fast water? get some heavy bugs and fish the bottom.

sorry i forgot to say that mostyn's advice was excellent. grayling on the taff and all other rivers like to shoal up in the cold weather. if you find the shoal you can catch loads very easily assuming you're fishing at the right depth. finding the shoals is a different matter entirely good luck with it mate.
