Hey all,

I am an austrian living and working in Turkey.

I am fishing for a long time but only trolling and coastal. Last holiday in Sweden (mostly pike-trolling) I tried fly fishing the first time and got immediately hooked.

Now I am looking to set myself up for river (and lake) fly fishing for mostly trout (and maybe carp)

I read up a bit and I think a good starter / overall set is a 9" with 5wt.!?

Now I saw that the classified section here is filled with good offers I would like to take.

Here is my question: do you guys here on this forum normally send internationally or are the offers mostly UK only?

Greetings
Peter

Welcome to the forum Peter. Answer to your question is some will send international and some prefer not to. Best you contact the seller via pm and ask. Bear in mind sending rods overseas is often expensive-a cost you will have to pay. Always check out that cost before you commit.

Chris.

Hey Peter;

Welcome to the forum like Chris says the only way to find out is to ask each individual. I've had some who have said no and some who have said yes. To my mind a 9' 5 weight is a great all around trout rod but if you are going to target large carp you may be a bit on the light side so stay away from the big carp until you have more experience with how to fight fish on a fly rod.

Take care

Terry

thank you for the responses. I already thought that there is no general consent for the classifieds here in this forum.

@christy77: I know about the shipping costs but living in such a country as Turkey, high expenses on shipping is a daily occurrence. for example, i just paid about $ 100,-- for some fly fishing stuff from cabelas.com but it is still overall cheaper then any european sites i found.

@Vermontdrifter: i know that the choice of rood/reel is a bit of a trade off and a bit on the smaller side for big carps but i didn't want to get a 'specialized' outfit as a first buy. But you'll never know what to come as future purchases...

@flytier07: thanks a lot. i am looking forward to involve myself more into the forum.
