Default Switching Codes

Hi all, since a boy I've always fished, not always successfully I might add. Mainly coarse fishing and sea fishing when on holidays. I had a break from fishing of around 15 years but made a return about 3 years ago. Now living in Staines I am blessed with a huge variety of different waters, from father Thames, to gravels streams through carp lakes. This time around I have oddly gravitated towards the smaller river, the Colne in particular, strange because previously I only had lakes and canals at my disposal. Although I have not had any great success on the heathland stretch of the Colne I have learned something new on every outing. For christmas I was given 2hours of fly fishing lessons and have to admit I think I may be approaching my final fishing destination. I love the history and the craft behind the equipment and the techniques and the ability to be constantly mobile while stalking your prey really suits what I have been trying to achieve. Last sunday I went to my local fishery at Halliford Mere and bought my first outfit, not hugely impressive to most being an Airflo kit but hopefully it will prove to be the key that opens many more doors. I plan to practice my casting out on the heathland of the Colne but also spend time at the Lake where I may be able to relieve someone of their wisdom. Can't wait to get out there!

Welcome-Like you I began coarse fishing, but in eastern South Dakota, USA. I have fished some of the gravel pits in the Staines area back in the 70s when living in north London and like you I due to family commitments such as two kids under three and many bills to pay had to take a break from fishing and when all my gear was stolen from my garden shed in 1979 that meant I did not return to fishing till 2007. I still do a little coarse fishing, but my first love is fly fishing. I look forward to reading your posts on how you progress and am sure the guys on here will help you make big strides on your journey to fly fishing enjoyment.
