Wink New to Fly Fishing

Hello!

I recently started fly fishing with my husband, who is the expert. Almost immediately, I was "hooked"! What a great way to spend time together in the great outdoors!

I am learning my casting techniques, and while it's taking a lot of practice, I would love any tips.

Thank you, and happy fishing!

what types of fishing are you doing ,,,would it be still-waters Small/Large or would it be river fishing ,, but I'm sure that no matter what the conditions your man will be helping you on your way and if you come across any problems , its good to just sit back at times and watch whats going on around you / what are the other anglers doing that you are not or are the fishing using a different technique or density of line ie! ,floater - inter - sinking line.
the thing is their is so much you can absorb when fly fishing from those more experienced than yourself but don't ever forget one thing when your out on a water and thats to enjoy yourself ,as some of the best days have been days when Ive lost fish and learned something from it on my own,

Hello fly girl, welcome to the forum. Casting tips erm...the harder you try the worse it gets! Take your time and concerntrate on getting it to land in a straight line-nice and steady. No rush, distance will come with time. Most of all enjoy your fishing. Hey, plenty of good fish patrol the margins .

Chris.

Hi fly_girl
Welcome to the Forum. Don't take any advice off us we probably have more faults than a Skoda. Just listen carefully to your instructor, write down significant advice, and practice, practice, practice.

Welcome.

My top tip - when things are going totally pear shaped, put the rod down, have a cup of coffee and a bar of chocolate... then go back to it. Everything is easier after coffee and chocolate.

Hi Fly Girl,
My advice would be along the same lines as Chris's. When things are not going well, don't try harder, try easier.
Cheers,
Angus

Well... If my ex-wife had decided to fish with me and then had asked advice on here; I would have prayed for someone to tell her to get her own flies and spools of tippet

Good luck and try to spend more time fishing than perfecting a longer cast, would be my advice.

Do you mean they get better with age?

I don't think so.

How do you make a policeman laugh?
Tell him your Skoda just got nicked.

What do you call a Skoda at the the top of a hill ?
A miracle.

What do you call a Skoda with a sun roof ?
A skip.

Welcome to the forum. In terms of tips, enjoy it and "Take it easy". Concentrate on presentation, not distance.
