Default New member saying hi

Just wanted to say hi to everyone.
Great forum,I've really enjoyed reading all of your posts and the links to local bloggers on the Derbyshire Derwent and Wye.
I'm just waiting for my DCAC membership to come through and starting fly fishing in earnest having just done the occasional day with borrowed tackle for years.
I live in the Derbyshire Dales in the Hope Valley so really looking forward to being able to nip out for the odd hour after work and the early hours at weekends.
ATB
Chris

Thanks for the welcome's.
Rudolf,
I'm 53 years old and have fished mainly for barbel and carp since i was about 12 years old with only the odd fly fishing outing using friends tackle.
I've just decided that I need to get more exercise rather than being sat behind 2 rods on a tripod all night and have joined a local club giving me access to the rivers right on my doorstep in The Derbyshire Dales.
My lovely wife booked me a day with JT and I'm looking forward to that once I've mastered the basics to save embarrassment !

Good luck Chris,
I hope you enjoy the world of fly fishing mate
I've not heard of Barbel being caught on fly tackle, but Carp certainly
can be !!!!
Fishing for Barbel on the fly, now that could be a real challenge
Enjoy the forum !!

Rudolf

Neil,
I will mostly be avoiding catching a barbel on the fly if possible
Did he mean to say "gentle" rather than "genital"

Hello There. I don't know if you get Trout Fisherman or not but I believe a few months ago there was a feature on taking golden barbel( a cousin to ours) on czech nymphs and such using jig hooks so the hook point sits up and the fly shouldn't snag up as often. Also think a travel company books fishing trips for these magnificent fish in Spain and I think they also fish for barbel on the fly in Germany as well.
