Recently joined and thought I ought to introduce myself.
I'm Peter, 64 years old and have been fishing since I was 9. My first fishing rod was a six footer made from an army serplus tank aerial!!!! Wish I still had it - pale blue it was, and I loved it. Tip came off whilst casting and disappeared into the far distance with a beautiful splash. And so to my first split cane rod, so heavy by comparison, though it was somewhat longer, then on to glass fibre - such soft mellow actions, and of course, finally, carbon fibre; with a brief detour into boron, (which I still have and love - slower than carbon, but lighter).
I enjoy pretty much all aspects of fishing, so you'll find me with a fly rod in my hand one day, a roach pole the next.
I'm missing some of my past haunts, (the Ribble, Hodder, Lune, and Wenning in particular), as we moved from Lancashire last year to God's Own County so I've lots of new venues to discover; though currently my favourite spot is in my float tube on Thrybergh Reservoir.
My other hobbies include photography and horology.
Well, that's me. Hope to be able to contribute to the forums.
Best Regards
Peter
