Default Hello Everyone

i have been viewing the forum for a couple of weeks and decided it was time to join the forum.

i cannot belive the amount of information available and the knowledge, and helpfulness of the forum members for aiding in indepth answers to questions asked by other members.

i have been fly fishing since 2007, when i first started i took the steps of having a weeks tuition with Tom Hill (based in devon) i believe that the skills that i learnt during that week has put me in great stead to continue my fly fishing developement.

i initially start off fly fishing on small stillwaters, but in 2009 after fishing some rivers now devote most of my time to fishing them.

i have recently moved to buckinghamshire due to work comittments and have to travel minimum of 1 hr 30 minutes for river fishing, but to be honest its worth the travel time.

My forum name is bamboo_flyfisher and i have recently started fishing with small bamboo rods which i now fish with 90% of my fishing.

my goal for the next 12 months is to build myself my own bamboo fly rod ...... i have stated the process, with most of the tools already sourced. just waiting for my planning form to be fished.

i hope i can contribute to the forum and hope to meet some members at annual gathering and fishing shows.

Kind Regards

Welcome Bamboo Flyfisher,

you'll find lots of help on here. Being a bamboo adept as well (although amateur, built only 7 (well 11 if you count the beanstalks)) I can tell you that catching a fish on your own fly is fantastic, but catching your first fish on your own rod will take you over the moon. Some pro's on here that can solve any problems you might encounter.

Tight lines,
Johan

Hi B-Boo-Fisher,

Welcome to the forum; and as Johan mentioned, you'll get quite a bit of help in making your first cane rod, from the Professional Cane Rod Builders who regularly post on this forum. bbamboo (Gary) or Tim Harris (Have a look for Timmy's Thread) making a cane fly rod! Johan also makes his own rods and there are a few others on the forum. Like you, I now do a lot of fishing on streams and rivers with a cane rod.

Look forward to reading some of your future posts

Mostyn
