Default Oopsie!!. Greetings from the Soar valley

Morning all. I've only just found this bit of the forum, have made a couple of posts already so I've gone about this the wrong way round!!.

I have a 12 year old, mad fishing keen son who I introduced to coarse fishing several years ago. A couple of years back he asked me to take him fly fishing (about which I knew nothing) and its been something of a rejuvenation; we are competant coarse anglers and relatively clueless fly fisherman!!. We started with an introduction coarse at Rutland, have had a few hours casting tuition and are starting to have some modest successes; we tend to fish still waters mainly and have managed to work fly fishing in to our vacation trips alongside the coarse and sea fishing we already do. Mrs DF is very understanding, fortunately. We have now joined a club (Thornton Fly Fishers) and are starting to get some level of understanding on what to do; there is a long way to go on that score, though.

So if you see a mad keen but clueless 50 year old with an even more enthusiastic 12year old by his side on an East Midlands still water, it might just be us!!.

Tight lines all.

Welcome!

Take a look at the link below. The England Youth Fly Fishing association is holding a welcome day on the 2nd April. It's a really great day and well worth a look.

Welcome father and son,
it must be great to team up with your own blood and enjoy your fishing together. I would have loved it too, but mine is hooked on carp. Must say I gave him a small hint after doing it for almost 20 years myself.

Nice folks and tons of information on here,
Johan
