Hello all from the deep frozen north
Hi all,I answer to the nickname of burnie, originate from Leicestershire, started coarse fishing with my gran at the age of 4 catching minnows and gudgeon. Was a member of the Kingfisher Guild in the 1960's and still have my book, badge and certificates for fish caught in the grand union canal.Took to specimen fishing after an aborted attempt at match fishing. Was a member of the NASA and the Tenchfishers group and the ACA in the 1970's/80's.
Started fly fishing when on a holiday in Ireland and continued on the Eyebrook,Rutland Water etc,but always preferred fishing rivers.During my Barbel phase I used to fly fish the Hampshire Avon and the Nadder for some light relief.I moved to Derbyshire and coarse fished on the Trent,Derwent and Dove, but also fly fished the same rivers for both coarse fish and trout and grayling.During this time I also went sea fishing, mostly from the shore as I'm a lousy sailor and spend a bit of my time "chumming/groundbaiting "over the side.Even had a go at big game/marlin fishing on holiday, but failed.
Seven years ago I moved to Scotland, where the coarse fishing is very little practised now.Spent most of my time here exploring the rivers with a trout rod fishing the lochs as well.Sea fishing is great fishing my local beaches and rock marks.
Last season I spent the summer fishing for sea trout and salmon, fishing the Tay,Tummel,Isla and North and South Esks.
Started tying my own flies last winter too, caught my first grilse on a cascade I tied myself, was impressed with that achievement.
