SPORTFISH is on a distinguished road
Default Sportfish Hosted trip to the River Grimsa Iceland

Hi,
With the 2008 season now concluded Sportfish have booked a prime period on the river Grimsa for 2009. We acknowledeged the opportunity to host a trip which will take advantage of the struggluing currency and offer 8 rods the chance to fish one of Icelands premier rivers. The fishing for the same period in 2008 was £1000 per rod more expensive than our price for 2009.

The river had its best season on record this year with a fantastic grilse run, this will mean a very healthy percentage of multi sea winter fish will enter the river next year, which is fantastic for those who will fish it next year.

The dates are the 2nd August - 6th August.

This trip offers excellent value for money at £4,650. The price includes guided fishing, full board accommodation, transfers and tuition. Shared rods are £160 per rod per day all inclusive.
Price does not include flights or gratuities.

If you need more info or would like to book please call Tom Festing at Sportfish Reading on 01189 303860 or email tom.festing@sportfish.co.uk

It seems excellent value for money, but even better value if paying Icelandic Krona - ISK 896,895.

Which beat and is "Strengir" pool included?
Is it a restricted fishing day, or 12even 24 hr river access?

Hi El Gran Senor

To respond to your questions, we have taken the whole river for this period. This means you will fish the whole river in that period at least twice, so you will have 2 full periods which will give you the oppertunity to fish 'Strengir'. The 2nd question was the hours you fish. In Iceland the fishery department allows each river to fish a maximum of 12 hours. The time starts at 7 am untill 1pm then either 3pm untill 9pm or from 4pm untill 10pm. We also offer shared rods at £160 per rod per day all inclusive. This as a great option for those who want to fish with a friend and share the overall cost. The price for this year is around 20% cheeper than last year. The other question was regarding the currency, unfortunately the fishing in Iceland all gets paid for in Euro's. Even though the currency has little value at the moment the inflation rate is high so this is taken into account when re-valuing the package. If you would like any more info please contact me direct.

Many thanks

Tom

Default River Grimsa

It clearly is a lot of money but you have to compare like with like and some of the fishing for example in Russia is far more than this. So it is around the market price especially when you include accomodation, hosting and the tuition aspect. Also Grimsa is one of the best salmon rivers in Iceland and this is a prime week so like everything you get what you pay for!

However having said that you do need to be one of the lucky ones to afford this but if you can why not?

Tippet
