Well we made it back ! I arrived home on Friday morning and was flat out on the sofa with man flu within 24 hours. (Welcome home !!)

The 10 Day charter was a dream trip, great weather great fishing. Plenty of Bonefish in the mornings and plenty of GTs to 35 KGs in the afternoons. (We used 150 gram Poppers with heavy gear for the GTs) Trip of a lifetime for all involved. This was very similar to my trip in 2007.

The second 7 day charter was tough . Rod tubes missing at the Airport, terrible weather for the pasage out to the Amirates . Eventually we did make it out there to be greeted by windy cloudy conditions. Not the best for Bonefishing, although good Permit conditions . I staked out the the Permit flat for a couple of hours each day and each day I had shots. The Permit as usual had the ability to stay 35 yards away at all times or swim straight at you , heads down , only to spook 10 yards away as I huddled into a ball to avoid detection. On the fourth day the sun burned through . The Tuna were blitzing and the guys landed a load of fish to 35 Kgs. Im just glad the guys had one epic afternoon on the last day, it was great to see big smiles after what had turned out to be a tough week. Plenty of GTs were landed on the second Charter ranging from 20 - 35 Kgs so it wasnt all bad !!

My theory that GTs fight a great deal harder in 10 metres of water than they do on the flats was confirmed for me by a couple of guys on the trip who have also been to Cosmoledo. Regardless I would still like to go to Cosmo. the difference in price is huge. We paid £2200 each for 10 Days/ 9 days fishing Vs £ 5000 ? for 5 Days fishing.

I wont be doing the 7 day trips again. Bad weather and bad luck can narrow down your fishing time as happened on the second charter this year, from now on I will stick to 10 day charters.

I have one charter for next year fully booked plus I have a second charter penciled in. Anyone interested in joining in should let me know ASAP.

Cheers

AG
