Grayling Fishing on the Welsh Dee
Winter Grayling- An Introduction
This is the outline for the Grayling day to be held on Sunday 11th December 2011. This will also be run on 8th January and the 12th February 2012
The plan for the day is as follows;
• Meet and greet then head to the river, H & S talk.
• Discuss the tackle we will be using and explain how to set it up.
• Entomology, looking at the foodstuff of the fish and our imitations.
• River craft, looking and reading the river, safe wading, getting in and out of the river safely.
• Demonstration of Dry fly fishing, then duo and trio fishing.
• Demonstration of Nymph fishing.
• Demonstration of Czech Nymphing.
Break for Lunch
• Split into 2 groups, one group will dry fly fish using the techniques above and one group will Czech nymph and nymph fish
• Swap over the groups
• Finally you will be let loose on the river under supervision to have a go at any of the techniques described, we will be on hand to help and to guide you, and we will even photograph your catch!
What you need to bring.
• Waders and wading boots (there may be some waders available for loan)
• Good warm and waterproof jacket and clothing
• Hat and Glasses
• Rod Licence
• Wading staff (again, we may have some available)
• Life vest (available to loan)
• Lunch, including a flask
• Change of clothes, just in case
• Fly rod and reel, 9ft 5 weight is ideal up to a 10ft 6weight, we will have rods available for use.
I will supply each person with 6 flies which will cover the days fishing, and the techniques described above.
The cost is £65 per person and this includes your day ticket. This is restricted to a maximum of 4 people which allows us to have a 2 -1 instructor client ratio
