Default South Tyne is running in perfect condition!

With a flood at the weekend the South Tyne is now dropping back to a perfect height. Lambley Estate fishing & cottages which has 1 mile of private fishing both banks is full of holiday makers so its 4 rods are not being used! (accommodation is full though)

What an opportunity for somebody to catch salmon and big sea trout. Day tickets are £39 per day. I urge you to grab some and go now!

Lambley Fishings. Salmon Fishing on the South Tyne

Cheers

Colin

At least one caught today at Lambley beat. Here is a nice salmon going back - hooked in the Wallace pool today.

I might get out tomorrow. Hurrah!

Cracking fish, going back nicely!!!! but i have to say that looking at tyne prices this year gives me the shakes. Its a great river and last year was a stonker but the money on the top beats is far too rich for my blood.
2 hours north gets you on the tweed with a few beats for much less and many many more salmon in the system.

But the Tweed is £30 more petrol :-)

Actually your are correct. The prices are high on some beats. I suppose its just that private fishing on the Tyne is so rare. It's mainly club water. However £39 on Lambley (private - double bank) in beautiful surroundings and a VERY good chance of a salmon is a bargain - when the conditions are good (like now!).

The Tyne is not so good when booked ahead because it is a spate river with many upstream barriers. Without water the fish get stuck and fishing suffers. Night time sea trout good in those conditions though!

Colin.

I told you so!

Last week they had 8 salmon and 3 sea trout. And that's with hardly anyone fishing!

Yesterday evening I went along and met a trout fisher who had bought his double handed outfit the day before at Lowther game fair and he'd just caught a nice 9lber. His first salmon. Jim the owner had lost a 15lber at the net - all on video - will post when I get hold of it - very entertaining! Salmon were jumping all around him as he played the fish! I was luckier - but hadnt seen a fish ;-)

I also met an angler from Cornwall who lost a monster (from the beat below) - he showed me his big single hook which had bent!

Anyway, conditions continue to be excellent so if you want to catch a salmon get to Lambley! (look on FishPal).

Cheers

Colin
