Excellent weekend, and you'd have to try hard not to improve your skills base.

Dour fishing conditions, but it didn't stop Hywel and John shuttling about suggesting different areas, technical tweaks and changes to try and move the percentages in our favour.
Even if it meant going just that weeee bit further than expected ...

Hywel gave a brief demo of the major river casts and line management skills you need to know, then let us get on with it.
Into the water, and onto the one-one stuff.
In 2 minutes, he turned what I'd been told was a fault into a very very useful tweak to my "overgrown river" jump roll.
And a snake lift, and a z lift and ..... Great stuff.

John sharpened up my existing knowledge, tweaking what I already do, and what I thought I already knew.
Meanwhile he passed on skills and approaches that would've taken me 2 seasons to have picked up on by myself - IMO, the real point of attending courses like these - to shorten the learning curve.

John and Hywel were always on hand to answer any questions and demo anything that needed explained.
And I learned a new tying philosophy from John - it's all b8llocks apparently

And before a certain miscreant asks, the only sheep I saw all weekend was the excellent bit on my plate Sat night .

Many thanks to the other lads on the trip that made it such great fun.

Thanks All.
Tony

Tony

Thank you for your kind comments and yes the fishing conditions were tough but the nice thing for both John and myself was seeing all of you fishing full of enthusiasm even in those conditions.

Thanks to everybody who attended the course and made it a great weekend for both John and myself.

Next course will be on river brown trout fishing in April dates to be confirmed PM me for more details

Hywel
