Default Short notice - Spey Fishing

I have a few days available on the Kinermony beat of the river Spey near Aberlour. Very short notice I'm afraid, due to sudden cancellations.

It's a 3-rod beat and at £20 per rod/day, pretty good value. May be a good opportunity for any of the Trout Anglers who haven't experienced the Spey before - large river, for large fish with a large rod! ( Fish not guaranteed !! )

If you haven't got the tackle, I have enough to kit out 1 person at least, and I'm sure I'll get you casting by the end of the day, one way or another!

As you can see there are only a few days available and will be going quickly as I have offered them to a few locals and on the Salmon-Fishing forum. First come - first served, no favouritism.

9th March - 1 Rods

Jock,

I might be interested in a rod on 9th March if still available. can you tell me a little more about the beat - I understand it's opposite Wester Elchies.

many thanks.

The beat is directly opposite the bottom half of Wester Elchies therefore if you have fished there before, you will now know exactly where it is; The pic may help! It is a 3-rod beat directly above the Aberlour Angling Association.

Spring fishing really takes off from mid April onwards but we do catch fish early on, indeed had the first from the river last season. Only 1 so far this season but Wester Elchies (opposite) had 1 earlier this week.

Just an unexpected opportunity to fish a beat that is normally fully booked throughout the season at a reasonable price. I appreciate that the river may seem slightly exclusive at times, hence my reason for offering these days on the forum.

For those who know me through the Competitive Fly Fishing, you'll know that this is a genuine offer to those who seldom get the opportunity and if you bring a mate to share the driving, all the better. There are still 2 rods on the 9th.

Tight Lines to all

As with many anglers these days, my preferred and only method of fishing is the Fly, however it is my personal choice and if conditions dictate then we certainly do allow spinning as do the majority of beats on the Spey.

Joking aside, I find it highly amusing how much snobbery has increased, especially during the past few years with reagard to Fly Fishing, for no other reason than just that - egotism!

I'd much rather see anglers, especially the elderly and infirm enjoying a days spinning than not fishing at all. Just my view of course, however there are many out there who will disagree and fortunately for them the Spey has a few exclusive beats who cater purly for the Fly-Fisherman.

Jock not elitist ,just dont know how to spin .Until I found trout on the fly I was and still am a coarse fisher.
The beat is excellent from what I have seen from the other side.

Default Anglers

Im with Andy
Many anglers especially modern trout fly anglers are reformed or otherwise coarse anglers who have either turned or also pursue trout, grayling or salmon.
There is probably a larger proportion of common all garden maggot drowning converts fishing for trout or salmon than there is PURE salmon men.
Theres no snobbery left in this sport as withmany others, the world is a small and accessible place which is dominated by the pound or the dollar im afraid.
