Default Edinburgh lift

Good day fellow forum people, well I had the misfortune of getting my car stolen last week which had all my fly fishing gear in the boot. Well the car was found but minus my gear all my stuff gone, stuff I have had for over 15 years. To say I was gutted is a understatement.

Well the fishing gear has been replaced and I'm patiently waiting to get out and use it but I have no means of transport. Obv my priority was buying the fishing stuff before getting the car fixed .

So if there is anyone from Corstorphone/Drumbrae/Parkgrove and surrounding area's that is ever going fishing for the day with a spare seat in there motor please drop me a pm, obv I will contribute to petrol costs etc I don't think I will be getting my car back for another 3-4 weeks at the least. So any help in getting fishing would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Get the bus to Roseburn and fish the Wol, or the Almond at Newbridge or out to Balerno and walk up to Threipmuir / Harelaw.

Thanks for your reply Strathearn.

Well i pestered a family member for a lift upto Harlaw on Saturday, dropped me of at 9am picked me up at 9pm, bliss. What a cracking water, a hidden gem.

Anyway getting the bus up there would be a bit much as you need to goto Balerno for a permit then getting/walking from there would be too much, I did contemplate it but its too far.

I took a walk down Cramond the other night and walked up the river Almond seen plenty of wee brownies but unfortunately I do not have river gear I have just managed to replace my still-water kit but maybe sometime soon I will invest in some light tackle for the rivers.

A fello forum-er has invited me for a day at Drumbowie where he is a member -which is a lovely gesture, and I look forward to it.

Sum pics from Harlaw.

Such a shame they had to drain Threipmuir, it will take years to get back to normal and Harlaw is fairly low too.

Good for you though

Has thriepmuir been completely drained? It was by far my favourite of the two waters but I've not fished there for years.

By yourself a fladen 8ft 4 weight, a wee cheap reel and barrio line and you'll have a good wee outfit for the Wol and Almond for less that £70, I reckon. You might be surprised by the size of the troots these rivers hold.
