Default Fly Fishing Ireland

My sis-in-law and I are planning a trip to Ireland. She to sight see and me to fly fish and drink. Coming from Florida I have no experience with the fishing there. I have fished most places in North America for trout and salmon.

Can someone recommend a lodge/outfitter, a season and tackle/flies. BTW, I only fly fish. A couple of URLs would be nice too.

Default Ireland

Hi Pete,
Plenty of options open to you for trout fishing anyway. I'm sure other members will advise you on salmon fishing because I am one of the worst salmon fishermen in the country.
If you're coming to Ireland you really have to fish the western lakes.
A ten or eleven foot rod rated for a 6 or 7 line is what you'd want for traditional style fishing. I would advise you hire the servives of a guide for at least the first few times you go out. He will advise and sell you flies(or at least tell you where to buy them). He will also get you over fish and keep you safe. In my opinion the best times to come for the lakes would be may-june and september-october.

I've heard good reports about this place. http://www.newporthouse.ie/lough_mask.html

I've stayed here myself, not fancy but a great spot for the angler.
