Default holiday

Evening all.......

Me & the mrs is off for the 1st 2 weeks in August.

A dont drive (yet), we love Scotland and tend to stay in the country (i.e Scotland) for our holidays.

Anyone got some ideas for a weeks break with some fishing.

South Uist is a cracking place to fish and visit, especially at that time of year. But if you don't have a car it is going to be quite difficult to get around. Then again, it's a very friendly place and you might want to ask and they could well give you a lift to the loch (or area of lochs) in the morning and take you back in the evening.

But then, you could apply the no car problem to most areas in scotland where you want to fish. Somewhere like pitlochry might be a good bet though. Lovely area, quite accessible by bus and train and the fishing on the Tummel and Loch Faskally on the door step.

I'm a non driver, I tend to get a wee bit further a field on my bike but I doubt you'll be packing that either

Given your limitations I'd suggest Pitlochry or Dunkeld / Birnam. River fishing on your door step, good local bus service (not plentiful but they do run to time) to get you to some lochs and also the train to take you up to Rannoch and its fishing.

The other spot that springs to mind is Peebles for some fishing on the Tweed, lochs are a bit more difficult round there.

Then there is always the west highlands, find a cottage by a loch there are a few, but getting there might be a problem.
