Ponoi:

Superlatives are queuing up when trying to describe Ponoi. The 2007 season will be remembered for both the remarkable fishing and some extreme weather conditions.

The Acha programme on the Ponoi produced a large number of fish - almost 2600 Salmon between 110 rods, with roughly 43 percent MSW fish. The largest a magnificent trophy of around 30 lbs – The top rod caught 102 salmon in his 6 ½ days fishing - what superb fishing! I doubt there is anywhere else in the world where you can experience such prolific and reliable Atlantic salmon fishing.

Ponoi River / Brevyeni camp - Lax-á is going to launch a new Spring / Summer program on the lower section of the Ponoi - renown for its dramatic, breathtaking and stunning scenery. The base will be the newly upgraded Brevyeni camp which is located in a deep canyon down stream of the well known Ryabaga camp / Acha camp. The program is most interesting for those who cherish comfort as the accommodation is laid out around a fine timber camp. The camp has a communal ‘Big Tent' for dining and socializing. The sleeping accommodation is in 8 comfortable twin cabins heated by wood burning stoves – single accommodation is thus guaranteed.

The new beats contain a large number of classic pools as well as rapid sections and exciting glides. This part of the river is easy to read as it is full of features and there is often a fish lying “behind that
rock”! Brevyeni camp is exactly 27 kilometres from the sea. You will be the first in the firing line to greet the mighty and celebrated Ponoi Spring /summer run.
