Default Christmas Island July 22-29th 2008

I have 2 spaces left on a trip to Christmas Island in the Pacific ocean. This remote coral atoll is one of the premier bonefish and giant trevally fisheries in the world. A recent clients trip report can be found here:

http://www.flyodyssey.co.uk/newsletters.html

Cost is £800 for the week and includes all meals, 7 nights accommodation and 6 full days guided fishing. You can add an extra week for £700 p.p which would see you fishing 13 full days.

Flights are via Honolulu and can be organised as part of the package.

For more information please PM or email m.mchugh@flyodyssey.co.uk

Unlikely to be able to make it as I'm in Norway for 3 weeks just before that, but how much is the flight roughly. £1500 is bloody good value for 2 weeks guided bonefishing. Is that a special last minute price or can you always do it for around that. Out of interest how long does a flight like that take? I guess it's probably impossible to go any further from the UK than Xmas Island.

Hi mate,

Australia and New Zealand are further from the UK than Christmas Island.

Christmas Island is a 3 hour flight from Honolulu, one flight in per week on a Tuesday. Flights from Honolulu to Christmas Island are £300 return and UK to Honolulu vary between £400-700 depending on when you fly. Flights for the week of 22nd July are approximately £600.

An overnight stay on the outbound leg is required in Honolulu to connect the next morning to Christmas Island.

We will also be running a 2 week hosted trip in February 2009 (3rd-17th) so this might be the one for you. Same price.

Regards
Mat

My cousin was posted there when doing his national service and they dropped the H bomb on it.
So all that radiation has gone now then? Pretty amazing what nature can do eh?

Apparently the radiation levels are lower than most american cities. Christmas Island is the largest coral atoll in the world and the tests were undertaken in a remote part of it. There are still a few locals around that were present during the tests.
