Default Best Boat Bag???

I'm looking to purchase a good waterproof bag for my lake boat. It needs to be a reasonable size. I've seen the Fishpond Westwater Boat Bag but it has received mixed reviews.

Any suggestion will be very welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Ray.

I gave up on boat bags a while ago.
Got a tool box with wheels and extendably pulling handle from b&q.
it holds all the gear you'll ever need and has a tray to hold all those things you need quickly like priest, casts, flouro etc.
i just strap my boat seat on top of it and off I go! weight no problem.
youll find it a lot cheaper than overpriced boat bags and serves the purpose
no problem.

Hi Ray, for the small amount of boat fishing I do, I use the Greys Platinum Med size. I think it's a great bag, plenty big enough for me, and all my stuff, not too heavy to carry when full, and loads of storage compartments etc.
It even has a pull out waterproof cover, so if it starts raining it covers the whole bag in seconds, very good idea.
Also the Wychwood bags are very good value for money.

i too gave up on bags years ago
never found one that was waterproof
i use a shakey box sub divided with a home made ply arrangement
it sits often in water and has never leaked
also has the advantage of doubling up as a boat seat with a boat cusion
attached to the lid....perfect height for me and one less bit of kit to lug around
i have stuck foam inside the lid to make a rather large fly docking station.
if you are a foul weather fisherman this is the ideal bit of kit.

The daiwa wilderness bags are great IMO. Plenty of internal space, side/front pockets and dedicated spool/reel compartment at the top. Also very reasonably priced compared to others out there (around £40) Mine has stayed waterproof everytime too

Hope this helps

Never found one in a tackle shop that didn't leak. Bypass the tackle shops and go to a yacht chandlers. Waterproof kit bags are cheaper and better quality. Recommended manufacturers to look for, amongst others, include Crewsaver, Ortlieb and Marinepool.

Thank you all for your comments. The reason for my topic is that my gear got drenched yesterday whilst out on the lake in the rain. My so called waterproof bag was not so waterproof !!!!

I'll second the Shakey box. Very vesatile for something so simple. I'd go for the beta size though, the bigger one is a fair ol' lump to lug about.

A shakey box for me too!Can sit in a couple of inches of water in the bottom of the boat no probs.
Most boat bags just ain't upto the job IMO.
