Default Advice on Fly fishing books

Hi
Being a complete novice to the art of Fly-Fishing!
I have been trying to find a good beginners book on the subject. Having trawled through the pages of Amazon it would appear that most of the beginners books are aimed at the US based scene. Whilst I have no problem in that, I would like a book based on the British Fly fishing scene.
Can anyone recommend a good book?
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

Tiz a good book that, but maybe you're after one on the fishing bit rather than the tying bit? Most of my "knowledge" was gained from mags or, belatedly, here. That, and bitter experience! So not really in a position to help, I'm afraid.

If you have a chum who can take you out for a few hours and show you the ropes, that's gonna be a whole lot more productive than any book. But I know that's not always possible, so hopefully somebody else here will be able to help.

Neil

Trout from Stillwaters and Trout from rivers both by Peter Lapsley, I believe they were combined as 1 book recently.Recommended and usually quite cheap on amazon.everything you'll need and very readable.

Trout Hunting by Bob Wyatt

Fishing Dry Fly for Trout in Rivers and Streams by Art Lee

(almost) everything you'll need to know
