I tie it on to the backing using the Albright Knot then lay it out on the lawn and stretch the whole of the length of fly line quite severely, allow it to settle for a while then wind on to the reel straight of the lawn...job done.

Not a thing I would recommend.Line core can be as little as 20lb breaking strain,There is also a chance you could seperate the core from the coating doing that,If there is no memory in the line ,why try to remove it
Put a pen/ pencil through the spool that contains the line and get someone to hold the pencil and wind onto your reel with a bit of tension.or stick the pen/pencil between 2 books to do likewise .
I bought a line spooler frm GAC for 4.99.great piece of kit.before that I just put the spool onto the shaft of my flytying vice.

Linewinders are good for changing lines or just cleaning them.but are not much use for putting line onto a reel if it comes on a plastic spool. but if the line comes supplied loose then the linewinder is a great tool.

I just took a piece of string and strung it between to door handles and put the line on it spool onto the string and wound it on.

Once I had it on the reel I took it off and then because there was a wee bit of twist I pulled it right of to the backing and took a towel and folded the towel in 2 with line it and reeled it back on, don't know how it works but it gets rid of 99 percent of the twist?
