Default Brecons 'wild' fishing?

I’m home alone this weekend and am thinking of using the free time to get in a bit of ‘adventure’ fishing. My plan is to pack a rucksack and a rod, get on my mountain bike and have a look round the Brecons. I may or may not take the tent, depending on whether a lads night out materialises on Saturday.

Does anyone have any ideas of suitable routes which would take in fishable tarns (if they are legally fishable then even better!). I’m aiming to travel light so nowhere that requires wading.

Any information gratefully received.

Cheers - Steve

Steve

I'm busy this weekend, but would happily come along if you manage to sort something out another weekend.
I live near Llandeilo, to the west of Llandeilo but happy to jump in the car with the mountain bike and a rod.

Here's a good route which includes Upper Neuadd reservoir in the Beacons, a kind of tarn in very picturesque surroundings. Obviously you can chop and change to suit but it does offer a pointer tosome good biking (so I'm told) and some fishing on the above or Talybont Reservoir.

Tickets from Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association outlets.

Thanks for the replies lads;

Bri - I'll let you know next time I'm out, see if we can hook up (pun intended).

DB - Thanks for the route - I've actually done that circuit without fishing and it was quite hard work. Upper Neuadd does look nice so I might try to head over that way. I've fished Talybont a few times and it's a really nice day out as well.

The weather looks like it may spoil things at the moment - it's absolutely precipitating it down so the Brecons will be a bit soggy. I might have to resport 'man made' adventure with a quick hack around Cwmcarn then up to Llangdegfedd. Either that or blow the outdoors stuff off and get in the pub early!

Cheers again - Steve
