Default Cleaning

im wanting to give my rod and reels a good clean down but whats the best things to use

For the rods I use warm water with a little fairy liquid and a sponge-nothing abrasive. Reels, take off the spool a quick wipe will sort that bit.
De-grease the reel with Gunk (car shops sell it). Follow the instuctions and be sure to wash thoroughly and dry thoroughly or the new grease will break down. An old tooth brush is good to scrub the old grease out-use the wife's if you have no old one. Re-grease job done. Cycle shops sell good grease and would advise you as to the most suitable. You only need a tiny amount. Hth.

I couldn’t possibly use the wife’s tooth brush for such a job. I used it last week to get some dog poo out of the treads in my trainers. Wouldn’t put it any where near my fishing gear now
