Default Leaders, Biminis, Furled Leaders etc

Just wondering if any of you have experience of bimini leader systems. Orvis sell pre tied systems and interested to hear thought on pros & cons.

Orvis Orvis Bimini Tippets : Questions, Answers, How To, FAQs, Tips, Advice, Answers, Buying Guide

Guess this is for single fly but for me the Holy Grail is a leader system that provides good turnover with a multiple fly cast. Interested what setups you use.

Just now I use a polyleader and then a straight length with the whole set up using the same leader material.

With or without the PL I find this setup just fine.I believe the Bimini is a saltwater knot to give near 100% test, but it is bulky.

And you've a more than sporting chance of going mad tying it! I can just about manage (with effort and swearing) in the comfort of my own home, but in a skiff, in a breeze, in a hurry . . . forget it!!

Anything including and over 5# I use Airflo 5' poly leaders with a tippet ring and tippet/droppers to suit.
I've tried several other 'knotless' leaders and found them all to have the memory of a bull elephant. The Airflo ones are pretty supple and have a reasonably aggressive taper to turn over big/heavy casts.
Anything under 5# it Rod Dibbles furled leaders all the way. Zero memory, a turnover to die for and very durable. Mind you I only fish single fly with this set-up and they don't have as much grunt when it comes to turning over heavier flies but for lightweight work they can't be beaten.
Had a look at the Orvis Bimini leader's a few years ago and couldn't really work out the point to them apart from selling a new 'system' to tackle hungry fisherman.

Andy I agree with you on the furled leaders, for obvious reasons I use my own.
I do use them up to and including #5 though, I just build them according to my line weight.
For tapered leaders, have you tried the Platinum tackle ones, ? no memory at all, and very nice to use, the ones I recently got from David are hard to see on the water, which is just what I need at times.
