Default Fly In My Eye

Hi All,
I was out on the lake yesterday in very windy conditions and on the last false cast, bang - my weighted size 12 Dawsons hit my glasses at great speed, bounced off and firmly bedded itself into my eyebrow
Fairly new to this forum and this subject has probably been done a number of times but just want to reinforce the safety issue here to all of us who love the sport.
Certainly not trying to teach Grandma to suck eggs.......
So, Ladies and Gents, experienced and novices a like don't forget to wear those glasses!
It doesn't bear thinking about the damage that good old Dawsons could have done if I hadn't had my glasses on!
The main reason for writing this is because my glasses, at times,in the past, have spent too much time on my head and not covering my eyes....
I was lucky!
Have fun and be safe,
D.

Hi Bruce,
I agree with what you are saying and had the wind behind me, but on top of the very bad wind it was just a freak gust - just one of those things that happened so quick!
Just realised about Grandma and sucking eggs with all the Wayne R jokes doing the rounds....:-)))

NEVER flyfish without glasses. your eye protection is as important as your rod and flies.

A chap lost an eye on Bushyleaze a couple of years back. - not nice at all. and it can happen anywhere at any time, even in flat calm a dodgy cast can fly anywhere, and when pullingflies from folage be extra careful...
