Default Beginner needs help!

Hi, i have just bought a fly fishing outfit on Ebay and it has Fly Rod, Fly Reel, Backing line, Fly line, Flies, monofilament leader and leader loops.

1.) Im not sure what leader loops are and what they are used for?
2.) Do I need a tippet or can i tie my fly directly onto my leader?##

Thanks,

Hi,i i take when you say leader loops,you mean braided loops! if it is braided loops they go on to the end of your fly line,and your leader is tied on to the loop.then you tie your flie on to the leader.But if i was you i would try and get along to your local fishery and get some one to help you,as you have to put the backing on to your reel,and the fline has to be wound on the correct way with out any twists and the running line goes on to the backing if its a WF.line, all this may seem complicated,bt its all very easy to do and iam sure some one will be able to help you
regards Duncan

Thanks,
Have a look here before you tie on anything! Avoid the loops, use thick monofilament as a butt to your leader. You could tie the fly directly to the leader but you will do better to use a tippet to suit the size of your fly. Let me know if you need any help.

Use the loops, they are fine if you whip them on rather than use the plastic sleeves. A whole lot more versatile than nail knotting.

Thanks everyone for your interest. here is the link of the outfit for better information.

ADDER TROUT FISHING OUTFIT -8FT ROD, NEW, *HALF PRICE* on eBay (end time 19-Sep-10 18:48:36 BST)
pt=UK_SportingGoods_FishingAcces_RL&hash=item3a5a1f9a02

please can you tell me with this link the best way to setup my flyrod and if its suitable for beginners. My first fly fishing venue is going to be the trout farm at Gilcrux (Gilcrux Springs) and the average fish is around 1lb so what would be the best fly type (dry, wet, nymph...etc) and size.

once again many thanks
Robbie
