Watch out there was a guy on here who posted about hooking a bat and got scratched by it and had to have tetanus injections.

I think he was bitten and had to have rabies inoculations didn't he? Far more unpleasant than an anti-tetanus jab. Unfortunately hooking bats does happen, especially while sea trout fishing at night. I've hooked a few over the years, and I'm sorry to say there has only ever been one outcome when a fragile bat collides with a rapidly moving 2" waddington.

Think your right but there was something about scratches by a bat being as infectious as a bite.

Nope no bats for me, i did hook a seagull once while bass fishing at the coast. The poor thing never saw my teeny sinktip coming. I had to take the thing with me and took care of it for a couple of hours, talk about vicious critters, he was a pain and a half.. But he did flew off like nothing happend after he regained his consciousness..

Nah, his bark is far worse!

Never hooked one but had the displeasure of occasionally removing them from my bedroom, when in my youth. The hardest part was cornering the feisty little devils. Must have been lucky with the scratches.

Same here, came home one night to find a critter hanging off the curtain rail in the bedroom. As I had just got in from the pub I felt brave. Got my motorcycle gloves on and grabbed it. What a snarling vicious creature it was . Bad temper or what, baring it's teeth, scratching and hissing. We all had a good look at it then out of the window it went-fast.

Used to regularly fish a shallow weedy loch where most of my fish fell to floating sedge patterns fished into the wee small hours.

Have caught bats on three occasions and they often pick at a skimmed sedge pattern.

On other occasions I have also hooked a large angry male swan and a mallard. The mallard was particularly embarrasing as it briefly took to the air.
