Default Smoking

I gave up Smoking a month ago and have noticed that since my catch rate has almost doubled Now I did have the month of August off work due to getting 15 extra days Holiday this year as a long service reward.
So my Question is
Is it the fact that I no longer Stink that im getting these extra fish or just that I have been fishing 7 days a week lately and have with ought realising my casting and hooking up have improved.
Just for info I have been almost entirely fishing on small Dries on the welsh Dee.

When you smoked, did you stop fishing while you had a fag?

Yes, I would normally light up when moving along the bank between spots, not every time maybe two or three during a 4 hour session. My thoughts were that if as some say Female pheromones imparted on the Fly and line can improve catching could the scent of a Cig have the opposite effect.

A lot of people in the coarse fishing world believe the smell of smoking off your fingers was enough to taint their bait so would use essential oils to mask the smell. Fly fishing is slightly different anyway in that your bait isn't natural anyway. I haven't noticed an increase in my catch rate since giving up. I think the biggest effect could be fishing time vs. fag breaks, not concentrating whilst trying to find your lighter etc.

While i smoke very little on a day to day basis, when i;m fishing i can rip through a pack of 10 marlboro lights in no time at all. I manage to catch a fair few fish. Indeed most of the fish i catch tend to take just after i've lit up a tab.

Having just stopped smoking this season I have found no difference in catch rates. I fish mostly small dries and the number of takes I have missed when I've been taking the cancer stick out of my mouth is just incredible, its almost as if the fish know. However to off set that whenever I was moving to a new pool or run I would light up and take stock before casting a line, now I'm just to eager to get a line out without really taking stock of the situation.I know Im probaly not helping but man it felt good. good cast, great take, nice fish and then light up.
